Wednesdays: 10.12, 10.19, 10.26, 11.2, 11.9, 11.16 Salsa and Bachata Beginner 1 6:-7:30pm Classes brought to you by Proyecto Palante. This series covers the fundamentals of timing, rhythm, body movement, lead-follow connection, basic step patterns and partner combinations in Salsa and Bachata, two of the world's most popular social dances. The first hour focuses on Salsa, and the last half hour on Bachata, with a short break in between. Bachata has origins in bolero, and was made widely popular in the Dominican Republic. Its slow tempo, high pitch and pop creates a smooth, sensual feel. Both Salsa and Bachata work off of a three-four musical timing and rely on strong lead-follow connection.
Level Placement Future Palante members participate in a Salsa choreography and partner workshop. Once in troupe, members move up in level as they acquire movement, lead-follow technique and combination repertoire. Salsa Palante is open to dancers of all levels, from absolute beginner through trained and performance level. Members learn Salsa, Salsa en Rueda, Bachata and Afro-Latin movement. We dance socially and perform to recorded and live music in a variety of formats, including on stage and outdoors. It's a lot of fun. Join us!
